On May 22, 2008, Congress passed the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (more commonly known as the “Farm Bill”; 19 U.S.C. 1484 note). The Farm Bill requires U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to collect, for a one-year period, a declaration as to whether the transaction value of imported merchandise is determined on the basis of the price paid in the first or earlier sale occurring prior to the introduction of the merchandise into the United States. Laredo, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Laredo Port of Entry Wednesday conducted outbound operations that resulted in the seizure of $364,009 in undeclared currency in two separate incidents. The enforcement actions resulted in one arrest and the seizure of two vehicles. (more)

El Paso, Texas - A 15-year-old girl who was kidnapped from her Vinton, Texas home Tuesday night and was the subject of an Amber Alert is in the hands of U.S. law enforcement authorities. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Paso Del Norte port of entry this afternoon admitted the teen for entry after she identified herself to CBP officers. (more)

Calexico, Calif. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Calexico West port of entry on Monday intercepted a narcotic smuggling attempt worth over $ 400,000, officials announced today.The enforcement action occurred at about 9:30 a.m. when a black 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with California plates was escorted to the secondary examination area after a detector dog alerted to the vehicle during a pre-primary enforcement operation.
